Eligibility for the Malta Digital Nomad Visa Program
To apply for the Malta Digital Nomad Visa Program, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they work remotely using telecommunications. Additionally, they must be third-country nationals (non-EU, non-EEA, and non-Swiss citizens). To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
1- Be employed by a foreign company with a valid work contract, OR
2- Run a business registered abroad in which they are a partner or shareholder, OR
3- Provide freelance or consulting services to clients with a permanent presence in a foreign country, backed by contracts with those clients.
4- how a minimum gross annual income of €42,000. Those who applied before April 1, 2024, are still subject to the previous gross annual income requirement of €32,400.
Note: Individuals contracted by a foreign company to provide services to its Maltese subsidiary are not eligible for the Nomad Residence Permit.
Malta Digital Nomad Visa Program: Application Process
To apply for the Malta Nomad Residence Program, you should provide the following:
Documents: Prepare required documents such as a valid passport, proof of employment, income verification, health insurance, and a rental agreement.
Submission: Applications can typically be submitted online or at a local embassy

Duration of the Malta Digital Nomad Visa Program
The visa allows a stay of up to 12 months, with the possibility of renewal.
Renewal of the Malta Digital Nomad Visa Program
For renewal, applicants must provide a bank statement showing payments made in Malta, confirming that they have lived in the country for at least five months within the past 12 months. Applicants must also continue to meet all renewal criteria. For those who applied before April 1, 2024, the original income requirement of €32,400 will still apply.
